Found this on the SA site: http://irene.windalert.com/ Shows wind speed/direction at lots of sites along the hurricane track on the east coast.
I had gone out previously to the NOAA buoy page and found much lower winds than being hyped by TWC. I don't think they make up the numbers but they may be at altitude in the storm, but not down at ground level or sea level as reported by the buoys. Your guess as to why they hype these storms so much.Huge difference from the 100+ that the Weather Channel is reporting. The biggest number I see on the link is 48. I wonder how they know? There aren't that many NOAA buoys out there are there?
Because too many people would ignore them otherwise and get caught unprepared... Personally I think we do too much as a society to protect people from their own stupidity and ignorance to the world, a little more natural selection would do wonders to our country...Rick486 said:Your guess as to why they hype these storms so much.
