I aquired a Widgeon but it's missing a rudder. I fabricated one that works for the time being, but I'm looking for a model correct rudder. If you have a use one please let me know. Thanks, Ryan.

I don't have one, but do have a sketch of the orignal ,can add rough dimensions (from memory, so approximate). Do you know approximately when your boat was built? Rudder design was changed in about 1984.

A new rudder is available from D&R Marine, but $$$

Hey thanks for some info. I believe it is pre-1984; the plaque says its a 1999class#. I saw those at D&R Marine, but I agree, $$$. I'm looking for someone parting out a Widgeon and hope I can snag the rudder. Thanks again!

One clue as to age of the boat is that you list a "CLASS #" of 1999. Boats built after November 1, 1972 have a 12-digit Hull ID Number molded into the outside of the transom, the Class# was part of that, but since you have listed specifically a class#, I would be pretty sure she is pre-1972. The fact that you list 1999 as the class# tells me that, based on hte fact that my 1969 Widgeon was Class# 1791, and O'DAY built about 300-400 Widgeons a year in those days, that she is probably a 1970 model. Does she have wooden seats? or are the cockit seats molded as part of the deck? 1963-70 boats have wooden seats, 1971 and later have seats molded as part of the deck. 1971-83 models have a forward deck level with the gunwale (top of hull), 1970 and older have only a narrow deck around the top of the hull.
Based on this info, I have attached a series of pictures of what should have been the original rudder. I also included one of my old Widgeon, that picture was taken in 1989, the 2nd season that I owned the boat.
