Why are silicone based waxes bad?

I would say compound and wax is better but I've done both and I think Poli-Glow is less work. I did the initial application 5 years ago, about 6 hours for the whole boat. Since then, I've applied one more coat, about an hour. I'll do another coat this Spring. Application is just wiping it on, not holding a power buffer up for hours. It's looked great and the gelcoat has been protected the whole time - I would have had to wax twice a year for the same result. Eventually, I'll have to strip it and start over but it still looks great - maybe I'll go back to wax then but most likely not. I put myself through college stripping and waxing floors so I'm comfortable with floor wax :). As far as the shine, hey, it's a plastic boat. YBYC.
