The Hunter 45 CC has a very nice center cockpit; very comfortable and fully enclosable. One nice feature of the CC’s is the aft deck that they allow. Those decks have many uses.
SO our 1977 Islander Freeport 41 is a great CC boat. It has a raised salon so there are only 4 Steps (not a ladder) to get below which was a requirement for the admiral, She is beamy (13'3") so plenty of room for companionways and down below AND I have an actual engine room which I can sit up in. I admit the cockpit is smaller than many aft cockpit boats but still plenty of room to take a nap or relax. She is a ketch and I can run the missen entirely from the cockpit and the visibility is great. With her full keel windage is actually not an issue even with the raised salon. She's a lot of boat for the $$ and while I love looking at new boat porn, there is something to say for the older boats.
I remember seeing a S2 36 CC at a boat show in Boston in 84. I really liked it. If I was going to liveaboard full time, I think a CC style boat would be at the top my list.
