Whisker pole

Hunter 40 Legend Penetanguishine ontario
have a hunter 40 with a 150 genoa. Any recommendations on whisker pole size?

If I remember correctly, this only matters if you race or plan on it, the whisker pole is only allowed to equal the LP of the sail.

If you haven't sailed with a whisker pole I think you will really enjoy it. I assume that you have roller furling and if so, you can furl the genoa with the pole still on. This is really handy when you get caught in a squall. If the wind is getting up to the end of your comfort you will find that the pole is too highly loaded to release the end from the mast. in these conditions I just ease the sheet and roll the sail. it will tuck into the forestay and just stay there.

A whisker pole will make downwind sailing without a spinnaker much more enjoyable. Otherwise the main kills the jib and the jib flops back and forth annoyingly.

AND MUST BE MARKED WITH A RED BAND at that point. Use a RED PERMANENT MARKER if you want a good once a year solution.
