Hello all, I'm buying a house and the owners are leaving their old sailboat behind, pictured below. So if anyone can help with who the manufacturer is, boat length, etc I would appreciate it! Also, assuming almost everything in this boat needs to be replaced, what should I expect to pay just for parts? Thanks all for your knowledge.

Another "Free Boat" story in the making!
Call a local West Marine store or 'Defender.com'
and ask them to send you one of their catalogs.

Start at the bow and price replacement navigation lights.
If that doesn't scare the hell out of you, continue aft and price each item that's not made of fiberglass.
Oh the Humanity! :stir:

If the boat was manufactured after 1972?, on the back of the boat on the right (starboard) side there will be a series of numbers and letters in the fiberglass. That will be the HIN (Hull Identification Number). Look that number up and it will tell you manufacturer, length and year.

Looks a lot like an O'Day 22.

I'm not saying it is, there are some minor differences, but it seems like a good chance.
BTW, welcome to the SBO forum. You are obviously a smart guy who makes good decisions, so I'm sure you will make a great sailor. This is the best boarding forum on the Web. Everyone here will do their best to help you and make you feel like one of the crew.

Looks like the mast has telephone wires hooked to it on the first pic. Must have been there a while.:)

Make them take it away as a condition of the house purchase. It has negative value.

The trailer might be worth something..... if the boat is not sitting on the trailer.

That long pulpit ought to give a good clue. Charlie, that's a BAAAAD case of those fiberglass worms!

Very good point, you may put a bunch of effort and $$ into this project and the rightful owner will then come along and reclaim the boat as theirs.

Plus, they should have the model and year of the boat on file.
I don't think it is either an O'Day 22 or a Cat 22, but it looks very similar. I like the bottom design. That flattened stern with the harder chine looks more modern than the rest of the boat.
Is there a trailer?
If not, it probably isn't worth the cost of buying one. You might get a small write-off by donating it somewhere.
