last weekend, we got the last of the "big" projects completed. We flipped the switch and cool air began to magically blow! Last February, we started a complete rebuild of our cabin interior. It's amazing that we got everything torn out in one day and it took five months to rebuild it! From that bare hull we have done the following: Complete rewire of the 12 volt system, New 700 watt inverter, Installation of new battery charger, New pressure water system including, new sink, drains, water lines, pump and tank, New head and holding tank, freshwater flush, New interior lighting, New galley including Origo stove New starbord and port settees with copious storage underneath, New nav station/power center with new d/c power panel, New shore power installation (we didn't have shore power before) including; shore power inlet, galvanic isolator, a/c panel, outlets, New air conditioner which we flipped on last weekend (yeah!) Just in time as the temp that day got near 100! I must say that we have been preparing to do this for over a year. I have been shopping Ebay religiously. Most everything I purchased, I got on Ebay (sounds like a commercial, doesn't it?) I calculated that I have saved over half the retail price.

We are going out a bit this weekend

The club we belong too is going to Crooked Island and we are joining them. Should be 10 or 12 boats. I'll take some pics this weekend and post them next week. Next on the list is general trim work in the cabin; fitting out doors, fences, mouldings, etc. We have to build in a new floor in the bilge area and make a step platform for the ladder. When all is done, we are going to put something on the floor, haven't really figured that out yet. My wife is thinking wall to wall bubber matting. This will be waterproof and won't reduce head clearance. She's thinking a tan color. Also, the entire interior will get a final paint job. The best thing now is that we can at least work in relative compfort with the A/C running. I tell you, last weekend when I was finishing with the A/C pump I think I filled the bilge up with sweat!

I just installed A/C as well

I bought a 16,700 BTU with reverse cycle heat on ebay (Ocean Breeze) for $1600 delivered. That included everything I needed to hook the system up (thru-hulls, ball valves, hoses, pump and ducting) except the 30 circuit breaker and the wire from the breaker to the control unit. I did most of the work while on the hard. Finished the ductwork last weekend and had cold air. This weekend I'm finishing up the cabinetry for the enclosure. I've always preferred spending our nights on the hook but now I'm afraid the boat will turn into a "Marina Queen". A genset may be next. I'll post a pic of the enclosure when it's done.
