where to install DS transducer on a 1988 - 30?

We just purchased a 1988 Cat. 30 and I need to install a depth sounder. Its the wing-keel version and I am inquring where to install the through hull transducer. I know its in front of the keel but for cockpit instument mounting and running all the wires just where is the best location? I might mount the instrument opposite the engine panel. Thanks Bob.

Why thru-hull?

Why are you going to drill another hole through your hull when it's not necessary. If you research the question of "depth sounder through hull" in the archives on the mounting process it will give you step by step instructions on the installation of the unit on the inside of the hull with the same results as going through the hull.
