Wow, what happened. Yesterday was nearly perfect. Were in Port. St.Joe, Fl. and it was really nice yesterday. Last night this front blew through, with some N. wind attached. Got up this morning to temps. in the upper 40's/low 50's. Why can't we do the months like we do the clocks, and just move ahead till May.

Brrr

Perhaps it is time for you to hibernate? One way to skip winter.

Made plans to sail over to Skagit Island this weekend. Crappy weather so just stayed on the boat. Blustery, raining cats and dogs. We have talked before about sailing over to Buchart Gardens, just north of Victoria BC CA, to see the gardens all decorated for Christmas. Quite nice so I'm told. May just do that this year.

Willl you be stopping in Panama City?

Hibernate?????

Instead of trying to hibernate, think I will just try to get myself farther south, where it's warm. Unfortunately, I have to be up by Chicago on the 21st. I have an aunt who will be celebrating her 100th birthday. If I miss that, will be much worse than the black sheep. Then it will be a compass course around 180. Billl, not a member of a GYA club. Had planned on stopping in Panama City on the way back, but time is starting to get a little bit on the short side. And this front has had me waiting out an extra couple of days. Think we are leaving tomorrow, and making the run to Pensacola. Thats the last leg that I have to make outside. Then have a choice. Probably go from here and spend a night anchored in Ingrams Bayou, as the winds are predicited to be northerly for a few days. Planning on a night in Biloxi. Then on to Slidell for a while. Will try to make Panama City when I head back this way. For some reason have never made it in there, although have passed by several times.

I assume your mast is over 50'?
My H31 was 47', so the ICW trip from Panama City to Gulfport in 2004 was pleasent, did not have to go outside, just motored and enjoyed the trip and made several ICW trips from Panama City to Applach.

My C387 is 56' off the water, so no more ICW from Panama City to Pensacola, until tugs "take out" the lower bridges, but the added room is very nice.

If you are coming to PC, give me a shout, you can be my guest for a night at the local yacht club. Would love to see your pictures of your trip.

Have a safe trip home.

Bill

Lake Erie Summer, from this to . . . . .

Most of us on the north coast experience the best of it all the way to not quite so good. But hey, the guy still has his boat in the water!

Seems we were always wearing heavy jackets in Lake Michigan this "summer". After one of the coldest summers on record, we really have to thank Al Gore and the rest of the enviro-Nazis for global warmming. Brrrrrr chill...

Same here. We got a late start on a not so nice summer. Seems like the season is just getting going and I've already incurred a late charge from the yard for not delivering my boat for hauling before Nov. 1. I'm telling them they'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands - well cold anyway.
