I bought a 1983 Hunter 34 a couple years ago and it has a 25gal Plastimo flexible fresh water tank under the port berth. I was trying to figure out how to get more freshwater on the boat and come to find out that it came with 2 tanks for a total of 65gals. Where where the original tanks located and where was the original water pump located (its under the port berth now)?Maybe the old tanks are still there!

There is a 25 gal tank all the way aft behind the rear berth bulkhead. The fill port could be inside your aft lazzarette. Later models extended the fill hose to underneath that flip up panel behind the helmsman seat where the emergency tiller goes.

The 40 gallon tank is under the port settee in the main salon nearest to the nav table. The filler port is also on the port side on the deck near the porthole over the vanity sink. The pump is also down in the settee forward of the tank. A three way valve controls which tank is delivering the water.

Mark, here is a picture inside the locker under the port berth, looking aft.. Original tank, selector valve, and pump and strainer. The other as Allen noted, is behind the cover at the foot of the berth in the aft cabin. If ya look behind the rudder drive wheel in the other picture, you can see the top of the tank right behind the wooden cover..

Mark,
I"ll bet somebody was racing that boat or something and pulled the original tank ... it's a shame to ditch that nice big tank for a smaller one, especially since the port tank actually helps balance the trim of the boat.
My '84 has a deck fill for the aft tank under the step on top of the transom, like Claude pointed out. But I'm going to stick with the port tank unless I plan on going out for an multi-night cruise.

As Allan said, if there's nothing under the emergency tiller cover, look in the port side lazzarette for the filler.

Waaaaayyyyyyyyyyy back there on the bottom of the compartment, in the aft outboard corner.
The same filler as the ones on deck.
