Malcolm I was just provoking some thought
I agree with what you said. I was just taking Data from the USCG on deaths/drownings etc. Obviously Data is only as good as what was input. Bad Data in equals Bad Data out.I also believe that this is not a Black and White discussion. I also support those that want people on their boat to wear a PFD. I just don't want anyone mandating it or suggesting that anyone who doesn't wear a PFD ever second is a 'bozo' . With less than 25 total deaths (drowning and others) on sailboats in a year, I don't think its becoming a "epidemic" nor a societal burden. People that own and operate a Sailboat should understand that there are potential risks involved, as in Sky-Diving, Skiing, taking a shower or walking across the street. Its just that some activities are more prone to risks than others. If anything happens to me I will not blame anyone, nor should anyone of us. What's wrong with society today is that no one wants to take responsibility for themselves. If anything happens to them they want to blame the government or someone else. Our society is slowly creating a coddled populace that is losing the strength and fortitude that made this country and (other countries) great."I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling orcatching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit." --- Dawna Markova
