the right lessons are more important then size

Take lessons on the style of boat you plan buying. I started by taking lessons and my local sailing school was using a 34 foot C&C so thats what I learned on. It was bigger then I originally planned on but that teaches you lots of things you just don't learn in dingies. After the 34 C&C, the Catalina 27 I bought is easy to sail.
