Hi from a newbie to this forum,

We will be doing a lot of off shore on the gulf coast anywhere from Venice to Marco but mostly plying the winds around Boca Grande, Captive & Sanibel or Charlotte Harbor area. When my schedule meets the right wind conditions we will be taking a down hill slide to Marathon, Bahia honda Key West area.... and then when the days grow longer will be taking the road (auto) back North for that summer pasture and a smaller boat... Yes we for now hail from a much colder climate.... I wish you all the very best for this coming new year....

After 6 months of preparing ourselves and our 2002 Hunter 456 we are finally ready to cruise to the Bahamas for the season. We will leave Florida at the end of January with an open return.
Have a safe and excellent adventure to the Islands. Keep us posted on happenings... Bill Boatsail1

Excellent trip

We'll spend our usual 25 nights cruising the Islands and the west end of Lake Erie on Lady Lillie.

Then we head west on the Lewis and Clark trail. When we reach the West Coast, we will head north to sail a Catalina 30 from Anacortes Yacht Charter in the San Juans, and over to Victoria.
A great 2013 to you and good sailing and adventureing.

I am so excited about the new year, I bought a older (1977 Catalina 25)last Fall. it has a few things to fix and tweek, but I love her. My goal is to be a proficient single hander, I have lessons to attend also, but I sail as much as I can, besides tuning the rigging and doing a haul out next month for some bottom paint. I plan on sailing the gahoozzys out of her this year.Winter sailing in the south Puget sound is a good place for a beginner like myself.
Happy new year!

Pretty simple ambitions this year:
1) early launch/late haul,
2) a trip across Lake Erie to Cedar Point with the kids,
3) singlehand the 25. I can't believe I haven't got around to that yet!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. Every time I fix something on my boat, I discover two more things needing work, time, and money. That's okay, because life is a journey, not a destination; and because owning a sailboat is a love affair. With persistence and a little luck, I'll be able to take a seaworthy vessel out to sea- and learn how to sail! This spring, I hope to sail to the Channel Islands, right off the California coast!

I plan to sail Guilty Pleasure farther then I ever have before. More Miles under the keel than ever! Unknown anchorages, far off anchorages, all I can do in my short sailing season here in Georgian Bay, lake Huron. Get all the use out of her I can in the 5 months I have. Talk to you in 2013

Chase the Admiral around the boat more.
Finish the cabin sole refinish
finish the solar panel tracker project
build Segue II (replacing the dink)
replace the pressure water pump
replace the battery isolator diode that blew
install the ham radio antenna (the right way)
figure out how to get my Coby tablet to do nav software and rig up a 12 volt adapter for it
Fix the GPS antenna cable
fix the forward head faucet so it actually does more than dribble
re-rig the lazy jacks so they work

I figure that most of that will only take 2 weekends with the Admeral's help so that will leave more time for the first item on the list the rest of the season ;-)

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your solar panel project!

I purchased a new main, genoa and asymetrical during the winter sale. I had already bought a used spinnaker. Now I have to rig my Catalina 270LE and learn to fly the pretty new sails. :D

Are you planning a long cruise this summer? Adding some significant equipment or making a major upgrade? Gearing up to buy a another boat? Or maybe getting ready to trailer your craft to Havasu next month?

Tell us what's beginning to take shape for your 2013 sailing!
Enjoy what we have; go on more coastal cruises...see our own country from the water!

This year I plan on sailing more and working on the boat less. Didn't get much sailing done last season because cutless bearing went out. But now I've replaced it got prop re-pitched and getting new shaft made. I've finished repairing the sea hood and rudder so as soon as I get it all back in the boat I will have all the major repairs done and hopefully not have any more show stopper problems. Maybe if there is a nice sunny day I can brave getting in the water long enough to get the drive gear back in.

Mmm. Last year I made the "resolution" that I would no longer move any more boats with the owner aboard. It never ceases to amaze me when someone that is essentially too uncomfortable to sail their own vessel, however has their own "ideas" about how it should be done. Disastrous.

So, along with a lot of peoples self imposed resolutions, I guess I'll be breaking mine on about the 4th. of January. Four days, a new record.

So we'll see how THIS one goes, along with an "abandon ship option" in Charleston. If that goes well, Lauderdale, and maybe Bimini..

Hey topcat
you wish! Fortunately taking pictures is about the last thing I have on my mind when I'm working on this resolution.

New mast step with a block colar to run all lines back to the cockpit, add stern rail, but , number one is to replace broken depth finder to help me to keep the keel out of the mud!
