What makes a 30' boat heavy sea worthy?

Most of the content of Bowditch is timeless and old, used book store copies are quite adequate. I regret to this day not buying a 1938 edition that listed all of the coastal light houses in the world complete with Lat and Lon.
I thought I saw a self steering system on Ronnine Simpsons boat that had ropes going to the wheel. I don't know what the model was he was using. openbluehorizon.com there are videos on there that show it. It's kinda sad, he starts out sailing and ends up on a bike. But I am sure it's cool for him. What else is he going to do...get a job?
ROSS I sniped another prop for my boat off ebay $50 with shipping, very happy about that. It's a closer pitch (11) to the one that came off my boat(10) that was ruined. This is a nibral prop, are they subject to dezinctification like the prop I first pulled off of my boat? The pitch on that one was 10. The nibral one is cupped also. Does this matter at sailboat speeds?
Are they better than bronze? The other prop I got off ebay was bronze.

Nibral is nickel aluminum bronze. Practically no zinc. I have a 13x13 cupped prop made in 1965. The prop man that repitched it said it was in excellant condition. You did better than I. I paid 75 and repitched it for 125.
ROSS How many horse power is you volvo? What gear reduction does it have?
The gear reduction on my 12 horse yanmar is 2:1 and the prop that came with it was a 12" diameter 10" pitch. We talked about this before on another thread, but I don't remember what was said. Is your prop 2 or 3 blades? You have a prop calculator don't you?

10HP 3:1 reduction gear 13x13 three blade, top speed about 5.5 kts. in calm water, no wind
