What is your dream boat?

Every once in a while I found myself wondering which boat I would buy if I could comfortably afford any boat out there.

I think I've settled on the Tartan 4700. Of course I'd be off cruising the world with it!

What do you guys like? (no megas please).
ETA: Please post pics!

Catalina 36 for me and my wife. But if it was just me, then a Tayana 37 or Pacific Seacraft Mariah.

One that doesn't break, need bottom paint/zincs ect, all fittings/shackles/pins don't fail, lifetime batteries, and free moorage and insurance.

THAT... Is the perfect boat.

I've always been a huge fan of any boat that paid it's own way, be it power or sail. And a little left over for an island rum punch, well hey, that's a wonderful bonus.

Jill and I talk at least once a year. We ask each other, "how do we feel about our boat". Do we want something bigger? OR ???? Anything and everything is on the table for discussion, even going a shore for good.

We once sat on a crealock 27 at a boat show for half an hour thinking, we decided against it.

So far, EVERY time we talk, we are thrilled with the boat we have now! :dance: And that goes for as long as we have had her, since 1993. She has taken us safely, thousands of miles and built us memories that still amaze us and thrill us.

So, if we won the 40 million lotto, we would drop her at the factory and have her redone from keel up, but would still stay with her!

A few weeks ago while having dinner with friends on their 29' Cabin Cruiser the admiral, possibly forgetting that the walls were just canvas or not realizing I was standing on the dock next to the boat, said "Toby can buy a new boat if he sells the one he has."
Well normally while browsing boat listings I make sure I look several brackets above my price range to make sure I'm not really tempted. but with "permission" I wasted (spent) several days looking at boats we could afford all of them: bigger, newer, nicer?. I came to the conclusion that I'm not done with the one I have. (Too many ideas and projects unfinished and even unstarted...)

What's my dream boat? one that's on the water with the family on it...

To that end we will be living (all 4 of us) 3~4 days/week on our 1973 Catalina 22. That leaves a lot of projects to finish over the winter, since by the end of the season I expecting the admiral to be demanding a bigger boat.

Wow! When I started this thread, I never realized how content so many of us sailors are!

Perhaps i need to reexamine my priorities?!?!?!

You only wonder about this "once in a while"? Heck, I do it at least once a day! I think my lottery winnings would be well spent on a new HR 43, although the extra room on a 48 would be tempting :)

Schooner. 40 to 50'. White ceiling with bright timbers. Cherry/mahogany furniture with leaded class doors. Lots of vertical and horizontal accents. Pretty much classic. Scuttle me in it if possible. I'll be just fine.
