We are very happy with our Caliber 40lrc. If we had an unlimited budget, we would get Bruce King to design us a nice 40-50' cold modeled custom boat. Classic lines but modern underbody. Fast with good pointing ability but stable in a seaway.

...keeping it within reason...Pacific Seacraft 37...a no-nonsense, well built boat that looks like a sailboat.

She's already outfitted in that Euro chic kind of ikea stuff, but it'll do. Money not being an issue I'd have Armani custom fit me a suit, bear foot I'd set sail from Newport RI to Monte Carlo, Monaco park it in front and watch the Formula one race and roll around that teaked out deck in my underwear...

currently boatless wishing Harrington Harbor North, MD
special equipment!!

I'm with AnchorDrager, ANY boat with that kind of equipment is going to be just fine as long as she can tell the difference between a sheet and at halyard, can hold a steady course, enjoys sunrises as well as sunsets, is handy with sandpaper and a ratchet, likes going aloft, knows how to read a chart and can dock the boat in a cross wind.
Which makes me think the perfect boat is so much a combination of different things I could never find one with all of it.
Luckily, I do have one of AnchorDragers specialized pieces of equipment to instal on every boat I'll ever own.

Thats a tuff choice ! Many of you listed some of my favorite boats. I have crewed on a few for deliveries and liked them all for one reason or another. Really like the Hylas, Passports , Gozzard, Cabo's . So long as it would be in the 38 - 48' range. The hylas I sailed on had electric winches and that was nice But for singlehanding I don't like the idea of NEEDing Electric wintches to handle the lines.

Unlimited budget....Buy a different boat for each area you want to sail then just fly in and go !!
