Pearson
Pearson Composits is the firm created by Everett Pearson and his son. It is an outgrowth of TPI builder (not designer) of J/boats and Freedom, and Alerion and some others as well as other composite structures like bus and train cars, windmill blades and swim spas. Everett started TPI in the mid-60's after leaving Pearson Yachts in about 1965? So all that occured at Pearson after that, including the design of the 36-2 happened without his participation. In the late 90's Everett Pearson bought back the rights to the Pearson Yachts name and they started production of high end motor boats. There is really no connection between the current Pearson and the old Pearson Yachts. Best bet to find out what this thing is on the 36-2 is another 36-2 owner. My guess is still ballast. Drill into it and I expect you'll find some lead. Knocking might tell it's not hollow depending on the quality of the glass work? Dan Pfeiffer
