(doing my best Red Skelton impression) I don't know what that is, but it's a genuine idn't?

I recall seeing one in an ad, about 30 years ago. It mounted on the rear side of a spar for an external roller furling sail.
There might have been several of them, spread out over the length.
Dim memory, tho. Passed along, FWIW.

I agree that it would attach to a spar. Maybe for attaching something to the boom?

I believe you could attach the main sheet to the old boom furling system.

Close.

It is a sail guide for an older in-boom system, though I can't remember which. It helps align the cloth with the feeder when hoisting. The flanges allow mounting it inside the spar. I don't believe any of the newer systems use these (better feeder design).

Thanks

That of course makes more sense than any of the other things we came up with.

Better than chucking it in the trash I am going to stuff it deep into the next boat that someone is selling. It'll be a head scratcher for the next guy who ends up with it.

Is that evil?

I hope to live long enough to see the next post with a pic of this...

While you are at it, throw in all of the random bits of SS that you have stashed in the coffee can you have in your shed.

Come to think of it, I've had a couple of Henways in every boat I have ever owned. And I passed most of them along.

Wherever you put it you should make a label for it that says something such as 'do not install after turning on power' or label with a sharpie 'Only Install After...~&#% ^&* ~~~' while making sure to keep the secondary instructions illegible.
