We left you something nice in a bottle on your boat yesterday..wanted to let you know in case you don't get a chance to get down anytime soon and someone gets a chance to lift it.(can't seem to get an e-mail to go thru?) A little Capt in Me!

Well, maybe more than a little. Thanks Seadance - you and Pete are welcome anytime I'm out there. Sometimes it is just nice to sit and enjoy the sail. See you on the water. The Swandriver web site on my signature has a direct e-mail link to me. Give that a try.

Old Salt

Hey Ross, things learned becoming an “Old Salt” included the efficient use of personal energy and time, boating safety, and conservation of resources, especially while sailing solo. Drinking rum straight from the bottle does all of these things. 1. Minimum personal energy used. Keep bottle in pocket, take out bottle, pop cork or unscrew top – take a swig. Reverse process. You never leave the wheel and it just takes s few seconds. 2. It promotes boating safety because you can do it while at the wheel and while keeping a sharp look out. 3. With limited resources on board it saves on dishes or plastic cups, saves on soap and water necessary for cleaning the used cup, and saves on the time required to do the actual dish washing. 4. And most important of all, being very socially conscience, it prevents alcohol abuse. Pouring rum from the bottle into the cup, holding the cup while securing the bottle, then trying, on a moving sailboat, to get the rum into your mouth seriously increases the chances of spilling the rum. That is alcohol abuse.
