Another Seadance moment......All right guys.. I am obviously a little rusty. I think its called the throttle/control? The part attached to the helm to give it gas when your at the wheel? Went to go clean the boat and start the engine up last week and it started up sweet but I could not get the engine to shut down when I lowered the lever. When I pressed down all the way down ...the darn thing broke half off.I panicked for awhile...hubby was out of range at work, no one at the Marina and the kids were wandering the pier. Checked to see how much diesel I had to sit there and let it burn off on its own but that wasn't about to happen and didn't think it would be good for the engine......full tank. Called girlfriends hubby and he told me to disconnect the battery.. and I'm thinking that won't shut off the engine! So I went down below to the engine and staired at it for awhile and then saw a long lever above the belts and I pushed back on it and there we go... it shut down. When I started it up again... it started again sweet but had to shut it down the same way. How bad is it for the boat to shut it down this way until I get it replaced??I looked up West Marine's site but they seem to only have lever/controls for motor boats? Can anyonne give me a name and a site where I can get one?I was not happy about this situation at all and it scared the cr*p out of me!! I know your laughing at me
