I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I have just finished a hard week of work on my boat. It was alot of work but it was a VERY successful week. After I had gotten my boat back in the water I had to send someone up the mast to replace the windex (Damn Ospreys killed my last windex). He was up there with my NEW ratchet and he ended up dropping it. It came straight down, dinged my gel coat and then went into the water. Later on on the week I was working on some lines in my slip from my dingy. I had gotten out of my dingy onto the dock to go get another tool. When I was working my way back into the dingy a stupid powerboater came by at Idiot Speed. The wave caused the dingy to move as I was getting into it and I went over. Damn the water was cold! I donated a cell phone (forgot it was in my pocket). Have you made any recent donations to Davy Jones?

Yep

I went looking at a boat, a few weeks ago, and stupid me, had my jacket unzipped, out went my Nextel, sinking so gracefully off the dock....

I have lost my best Sturgeon spearing decoy. I lost my gaffe to bring in Northern Pike a flashlight. Imagine all that through a hole in the ice. Hard to lose anything off the boat while its on the hard.

Last year

Wife lost her cell phone out her back pocket when sliding her ass down the transom ladder. My gloves blew out of the cockpit last fall. Turned around but it was too late.

spline connecting section of CDI furler

At the slip, taking apart my furler, I watched one of the splines that connects the foil sections neatly drop out of the joint and bounce once off the deck and into the drink! CDI no longer makes them, so I brought the remaining pieces home, cut one in half, installed a small rivit in the furler foil section to keep it from dropping down into the section, and I go back to the boat tomorrow to try to put the whole assembly back together on the forestay without losing any more pieces! Frustrating, but not like losing an outboard off the transom!

Wow ... Ed Martin

When it comes to losers (people who lose stuff) ... you are the winner. So, is the engine still on the bottom? Regards

Didn't lose Engine

No I retrieved the engine with the help of the harbor patrol. It was on a lanyard. Luckily I had two engine mounts on my boat so we transfered, but the engine did go underwater and the next morning I changed the oil and drained the carbuerator, shot some engine start in the carb. and it started right up. It ran for about 20 minutes then quit. I brougt it home and completely replaced all the electronic components. It still won't run. So I bought a new engine and am going to take my old Honda 8 in to be repaired. They probably will get it running in about an hour. All my electronics checks out with a Vom and should run. I'm tired of working on it so it goes in the shop. One thing though I like my new Merc 6 alot better my Honda was always tempermental. When I get it repaired It will probably be worse.

what next

Cell phone, tools, cowl vent. I am amazed when I drop something and it does'nt go in the drink. For as much as falls over, or in my deep bilge, I have made a whole lot of unwitnessed hall of fame saves.

Hmmm...does anyone make a

waterproof floating cell phone? If not, I'm going to patent one and retire.

It wasn't me...but it's currently a necessary item. I gave the culprit an option--take swim to the bottom or take a swim to West Marine. I'll see what he chose this weekend.

Improved bracket

Hello, Rich Well I don’t know who the Manufacture of this mount is but it came from West marine. I was looking up a better mount ever since I purchased the boat because I didn’t like either mounting bracket I had since purchasing the boat. I wouldn’t even trust and electric motor on the Fulton bracket on my starboard side. I saw my bracket still being sold by West marine while I was looking for a better bracket. Anyway I read a bad review from someone else who purchased one of these mounts and he put a brand new 9.9 Honda on it and lost it first time out, Boy was he angry. West marine discontinued carrying this mount right after the review. In all fairness West marine has stated on these brackets that they are not intended for 4 stroke engines!’ If anyone buys a outboard bracket for their boat make sure it is rated for a 4 stroke engine of the horsepower they are going to use. I took that particular bracket changed the mounting block to a heavier one and changed the cavatation angle of the mount and welded up a stronger set of lower bars with a flex plate so the mount could not twist or flex when the engine was being turned which was one of the brackets downfalls along with the fact that in didn’t have provisions for cavitation angle adjustment. After my alterations no problems now have no desire to by another bracket now, made mine better!” (Than anything I can afford anyway)

Bounce, bounce, plink

I have lost a clevis pin and a rail flag pole holder so far this year. Why, when I drop something, does it always bounce towards the water? It seems there is some magical force at work...
