what are these called, took em off hunter27 ,they ran down both sides and had shackles attached

Looks like Slotted toe rails. Attached to them were probably the blocks for jib sheets or spinnaker sheets.

Curious about why you removed them?

I’m not sure how the 27 is constructed but on some boats these rails are structural, they also serve a purpose in helping to prevent tools or even people from slipping overboard. Also very useful to connect blocks or fenders to the boat.

Not a lot of call for aluminum toe rails, but when you do need them, they are very very expensive (new).
Someone will want them -- might take a few tries on CL eBay.
