Please be patient

Boss, I want a new user name, not the one you "gave" me.
Scott,

Please be patient and Phil will get to it. He was in meetings all afternoon and I'm sure he'll be awake until about 4:00 am working out bugs.

Unfortunately some of the screen names and such did not all transfer as Phil would have liked from the old format to vBulletin so it will be added to the list of tweaks and fixes.

If you guys only knew the half of it, and what it took to get this data to how you see it now, you'd be very, very surprised that it even works!

Again please be patient and it will eventually get fixed! At least you could log in some can't even do that!:)

reputation?

What does the site-izen bar mean? What is the percentile bar about? And how about a little information on the reputation box. Lastly, can any but explain the signature thing to me. :)

Scott and Recess

Recess: I tried to email you about an hour ago and it bounced; must be an old address. Contact me at phil at sailboatowners.com and I'll get you squared away.

Scott: Put your cursor over the Owner Directory tab, then elect Edit Profile. Go all the way to the bottom of the left column and click Request Username. You can have any name you want (that isn't used). These were created because we needed unique names for about 15,000 users.

Sorry for the ruckus, we'll have all this sorted out very soon.

Please make use of the signature option. It would be very nice if all registered users would please do the following:

Creating A Signature

Click on:
"Edit Your Profile" (upper left of the message board pane)
Then below the words:

"Control Panel"
Click on:
"Edit Signature or Create Signature"
Then scroll down to where you enter your info and create a signature. Please include the following:
-Screen name
-Your Cruising Area (general area where you sail)
-Boat Manufacturer
-Boat Year
-Boat Length or model

Then click:
"Save Signature"

Next click on:
"Edit Forum Prefs"
Then scroll down to the box that says:

First log in issues - try this:

For those who can't log in using old info, it happened to me. I suspected my user name had to be modified and I was correct. After an unsuccessful log-in try, I backed out and found a previous thread of mine and yes, my user name showed up as the modified one. Back to the log in using it and I'm good.
Then click request new user name if you wish.

Sure looks good to me Phil and am looking forward to finding my way around better. I'm sure it will come pretty fast because everything seems very user friendly.

Re: Signatures

Mainesail I'm supposed to read everything ??? It's easier just to ask 100 questions, rather than read the manual. I'm a guy after all. ;)

I was looking for the locations under the user names as they were before, but I see what you mean now.

Success changing assigned user name

Somewhere Phil posted the instructions on changing your "New" assigned namenumber. Anyway at the very bottom of the "edit profile" screen, down in the "miscellaneous" section there is a tab for changing user name.

Also I see that we now have a spell check tool - cool:)

Very nice site update. Well done - Bravo!!
If only Mr Gates and just about every other software developer could do so well !!!
After 2 sessions, I have 2 comments:
1. A redirect from the old URL would be nice.
2. On my OS - Win XP - the drop down menus work only on the home page. All other pages mask the drop downs.
If I have time next week, mayhaps I'll do a proper QA shakedown.

Fair Winds !!

I like the new

site a lot. So far I have had no problem and seem to be able to move about with ease.

I know it was a lot of hard work, and I just would like to say, "Thanks" for I see an improvement already.

Also, thanks Maine Sail for the sticky threads, those have been helpful and I'm trying to use some of your suggestions. I think they add value.

I love the new site Phil! Question: Will there be a "Recipe" section on this site? Like I can afford to put on more pounds than I'm carrying now!
Ahoy!

This has been a large project and there are many of you to thank for your help. But that will come in a separate post later today.

But speaking of thanks, we'd like to thank you for your patience and loyalty in 2008. The forums were down a lot and was frustrating for us all. We appreciate you sticking with us.

Right now, we'd like to know what we can do to make this a better, more valuable site for you.

We're looking for your input!

If you have time and skills it can be done but at considerable cost. Some things can be dried and some things can be cleaned. But things like beding and foam seat cushions must be replaced. If the ply wood has survived it will still need to be refinished. Plan on essentially gutting the boat and then saving what you can.

You DESTROYED a great website. I have sold a boat on your site, found another and log on to daily. I am DONE -- TERRIBLE website change. A BAD idea.

Hey Guys: I haven't been on here since Aug. or Sept. I too couldn't log in! Unlike Jerry here, i tried a couple times and then e-mailed Phil. After 2 short msg's to him, I was up and running in less than 3/4 of an hour! I was expecting maybe a day or so because Phil had told me he was going to be in a meeting this afternoon. Great job Phil! I love this new look to the site. Phil, Mainsail and the rest of the moderators, you guys have really done an excellent job on this! Thanks to all, and guys, give these Ops a break, its going to take a bit to get the bugs out of this just like anything else that is new-thanks again-Kevan
