Weird autopilot behavior

I had a Raymarine ST4000 wheel autopilot installed on my 1990 Hunter 30. The autopilot exhibits the following weird behavior when I try to engage it. It turns off (as if it resets itself), then displays a diagnostic message "5000 SAIL" which is not mentioned anywhere in the manual, and then it reverts to standby mode. All along, the drive unit remains motionless and silent. I am trying to get in touch with Raymarine to find out what in the world is wrong with the darn thing, but I thought to ask here in the forum just in case someone else encounted the same behavior. Best, -leo i.

Leo, if you have a volt meter check the volts...

at the head. It should be at least 12 volts. It almost sounds like the unit does not have enough juice to keep it in the auto mode. Terry

Do you have it wired to interface with other items (GPS, wind instruments, etc.)? Maybe not quite wired / configured correctly?
