Those pieces look gorgeous! What type of varnish are you coating them with?

Not a bad day. Rudder and tiller sanded and 4th coat of varnish. Gave the companionway hatches a quick sand and 2 coats if varnish. I can also finally say that the bottom is officially over halfway sanded!

Just cheap minwax helmsman spar varnish I had sitting around from another project. The PO had stripped the rudder and tiller to bare wood. I sanded them further with 80-180-220 on a block to flatten things out from him power sanding it. I've been giving it 8 hours to dry,block sanding it with 220, recoat, repeat. I think I will leave it to dry thoroughly for a few days before I sand and recoat again.

Made it halfway down the port side and my sander had a bearing go bad.... Back at it again soon.
