It's comical both ways.
Got the winches completely cleaned up, lubricated, reassembled and installed this morning. They work and look great. Also rebedded the main sheet track. Used brand new SS316 hardware for all mounting fasteners and butyl tape as the bedding material. Much nicer to work with than 3M 4000 caulk.
One other cool trick with butyl tape is that when you have blind fender washer, lock washer, and nut install that you can only get one hand on - make a butyl tape, fender washer, lock washer sandwich that sticks to the surface around the bolt. You can then easily install the nut without dropping any parts into the depths of you bilge, motor compartment, etc. You only need a few dots of butyl tape on each side of the fender washer to hold it all together and defy gravity.
