Water Tank Mystery

guess the previous owner kept the fill cap off, never washed the anchor after using it and let the whole mess flood.

Not sure what "never washed anchor" means.

This is about trouble filling the Potable Water Tank on "poster's boat".
But we can still help.

I guess you do not understand that on the Hunter 28.5 the deck fill for the water tank is in the anchor locker.

I guess you mean that the cap to your potable water tank has been left open.
Now we are through guessing...

1) You must clean and the disinfect feed line or replace it.
2) Clean the water pump inlet strainer.
3) Flush out your tank

Then you can get to the point of this thread.
