Water pressure issues

So...

Our fresh water pump gave up. It would continually run and not build pressure. Looked to be pretty old so we replaced with a new Shurflo, pretty straight forward plug and play.

Now the issue; the new pump builds pressure but cycles about every 4-5 minutes as if the system is loosing pressure. I've checked for leaks and found none.

Also, the hot water pressure is not as it once was, starts out normal then slowly reduces to a trickle while the pump is running constantly.

Clogged/blocked hot water heater? Everything worked fine before the pump failed.

Thanks!

Take a look at the discharge check valve as this may be allowing water to leak back into the suction side of the pump. All it takes is a tiny bit of dirt.

I would look at the pressure release valve on the water heater. These are a normal maintenance item and should be replaced every 5 years or so.

Wanted to close the loop on this older post. The issue ended up being the one way valve install on the supply line to the water heater. I didn't even know there was one. Found it when I started to replace potable water hoses hoping to find my problem.
