Water leak

I have a 1991 Cat30. Above the stove (port side) there is a light fixture and from one of the screws water drips after a rain or washing. I cannot seem to be able to locate the source. So far, I have rebedded the hand rail, the teak strip above the windows, rebedded the plexiglass windows screws, removed the track bolts and reset with silicone, added silicone to the teak hatch guide where the teak butts the hatch cover, drilled a hole from inside the cabin into the traveller box (found dry), added silicone around chain plates(messy for now). Next I'll remove the dodger fastners pop rivets and replace with screws, also remove the traveller and rebed just in case and the teak hatch guide. I'm thinking of running a moisture meter across the deck maybe I can locate the water passage. No leaks from the other holes and the boat does list to port a bit.Has anybody else had this problem because this is driving me insane?Thanks,

I think we all list to port, I know my 270 does

with a full water tank, it's level with an empty tank. I believe I've heard of others with problem similar to yours which has been attributed to blocked drainage holes at forward end of companionway hatch. With our "Catalina List" that would seem to put the water in same area as your leak.

We had the same thing

Hello "S"I have a 1983 C-30 and had the same problem, so much that when we bought the boat, the light bulb socket in the light over the stove was rusted solid to the base of the bulb. Our solution was to recaulk the outside of the window frame, it hasn't leaked since.Best of luckJack BollingerS/V "Hey Jude"

Thanks for responding, but maybe your windows are different than mine. Mine are plexiglass with no meatal frame.

Need to completely rebed

You really need to pull the chain plates and competely rebed-just caulking around the outside does not work-nor does it for any hardware or ports,
