Tried filling the fresh water tanks and as we were doing so a good bit of water came in the cabin about were the fill nozzle is streaming down the hull behind the drawers across from the head.

Is this a common problem?

I recently bought my brother's Catalina 30. He replaced all the fresh water lines a few years ago. You should be able to gain access to the lines and the thru deck fittings used to fill your tanks, and repair/replace lines that are leaking. They might only need new hose clamps. I think the fittings are behind the those drawers/hanging lockers.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
You may also consider re-bedding the fittings. If the water leaked in that area from the fittings it could rot the core of the deck and cause major issues. Since you have a 1979, while you are replacing hoses this is a smart time to rebed the fittings.

Turns out thee is NO hose going from the deck fitting to the tank!

Annoyed to say the least, but at least now I know what to do to fix it.

Where is the hose supposed to run?

Where is the hose supposed to run?

My boat has 2 fresh water tanks and a deck fitting for each, both on starboard bow. The hose leading to the tank under the v-berth goes forward along the starboard hull and forward of the hanging locker directly to the tank. The hose leading to the starboard tank located under the setee runs from the deck fitting almost straight down to the tank.

If you are replumbing - don't forget the vent line.

What happened to your hoses? Could it have just come loose from the deck fitting? Is there a supply hose running into the top of the water tank?

Good luck!
