The drips from the stuffing box on my O'Day 280 drain into the engine compartment rather than the bilge, which can result in a good deal of corrosive salt water sloshing around under the engine. This doesn't make sense to me, but I don't want to drill holes in the engine compartment floor to drain the water because I don't want the potential for oil in the bilge.Has anyone tried channeling the water from beneath the stuffing box directly to the bilge using a small hose? I would think that a shallow cup or pan connected to a hose would do the trick if I can figure out how to mount the pan and where to route the hose. If you have any experience doing this, please let me know what works for you. Thanks!
