Reasoning
Phil,The thinking behind my suggestion was just a feeling that commerce is commerce. I'm not sure that I understand how wanting a boat to buy is really different from wanting to sell a boat from a policy standpoint on the forums. Both parties are interested in a transaction. And, if you are looking to be consistent in promoting the boats for sale classifieds, it seems inconsistent to allow boats wanted in the forums. In that instance, I might be better off just responding to the forum requests rather than running in the classifieds. What can be a better lead than someone who is already professing an interest. In fact, maybe I can convince them to buy my boat rather than the specific model they have indicated.Because you sell products that compete in the industry you have carefully crafted policies regarding the nature of postings. Liberal policies, I might add. However, I suspect if I posted a request to buy something you sold on the site as an open invitation to competitors, it would be inappropriate. It is equally inappropriate to allow a boat wanted post to do the same in relation to the paying members who advertise in the boats for sale part of the classifieds. My expanded thoughts. Thank you very much for the thoughtful way this site is run, regardless of my opinions. There is more information generated here than any other single source I'm familiar with.Dan Jonas (S/V Feije II)
