Does anyone have gently used main sail I can use for my 1986 Hunter 23, or know where I can get one? Thanks, Pam V.

Welcome to the forum. I can't help you with your main but I can tell you our first keelboat was an '86 H23. Great boat that we thoroughly enjoyed. Good luck in your search and Welcome Aboard!

What's your budget? You can buy a new one from thsailwarehouse.com for $599.

Thanks, yes, I did get a quote which came to about $1100 and may still go that route just thought I'd check for some gently used ones as well.

By all means look, but its rare that you'll find a decent used main for a cruising boat. Racers will sometimes swap a good mainsail for a better one, but cruisers tend to use them well past then being good for anything but bags. Headsails you might have better luck with as someone changes size and no longer needs their old one.

Yeah, I was wondering why someone would give up a main in good condition. As we've seen they don't even want to give up on a main that's in horrible condition.

I have dealt with Atlantic Sail Traders in Sarasota, Fl. Their sail condition ratings seem appropriate. A lot of their good to excellent condition cruising sails come from insurance totaled hurricane boats. http://www.usedsails.com/

Probably more applicable for non-trailer sailors that can't get out of the way of big storms, but an interesting point that I hadn't thought about. Thanks for mentioning that.
