Take a look

At this link <<I realize I've said this name too much already but if anyone doubted what this Vertglas can do ... take a look at these pictures. I made them a little larger than normal for better resolution. In the top left picture, I was standing five feet away and while you can't read the label on my can of Mountain Dew, you can tell that I'm wearing a dreadful pink tie-die t-shirt. That's not shabby! (the shine - not the t-shirt). I wish I had taken a before picture but believe me that 30 minutes prior it was as reflective as a piece of blackboard chalk. I did hit the larger areas with the Vertglas supplied rubbing compound with an electric buffer and it made a large difference. If you gel coat is very chalky, I suggest going over the large surfaces lightly with the buffer before application. You don't have to make it shiny - just knock down the surface a little more. All this and the product actually says to NOT wax it throughout the year...I like that.>> (I didn't use it, just found the link)

Can Vertglas be used on the deck?

Speaking of Vertglas, do you have any experience using it on the deck? Would it make it too slippery/dangerous?

Vertglas (and others)

I used Vertglas on several boats in New England including my Hunter 34. I was very happy with the results until after 2-3 years when the finish turned yellow. Removing it is not fun. I later switched to a similiar product made by a competitor called Poli Glow that worked much better. It didn't yellow over time and made the boat look great before I sold it. I wouldn't use any of this stuff on a newer boat unless it had very tired gelcoat

Nice Work

Nice work Brian. I am particularly interested in the ports, as I need to do the exact same thing on the S2 which had some heat damage to one port. Glad to read that the router worked good, as that is what I was planning on using. Where did you fine the Lexan. I have been looking but so far haven't found a good source.

My experience has been the same

as Daryl's. Vertglas produces a terrific shine but so does PolyGlow, and PG lasts much longer without yellowing. Neither one of them is as slippery as wax, as far as using on the deck.
