Catalina 27
There are probably a lot more Catalina 27s on the water than the other models. Catalina had a very long production run of the 27s, as they tend to do with most of their models. I think they made about 6,000 of the 27s. Hunter, O'Day, and other manufacturers seem to change their models and styling more frequently. Nothing against them, just a different approach. With that many C 27s on the water, there are bound to be a bunch for sale at any given time.I've got an 84 Catalina 27 with the Universal Diesel and wheel steering. It's been a superb boat. We use it primarily for daysails (coastal NJ) and an occasional overnighter or weekend.Older boats with outboard motors can be had very inexpensively, while the later versions command a bit more money. Either way, you are getting a lot of boat for the money. Whatever you look at have it surveyed for trouble spots.Good luck,Randy
