Am in the process of buying a '75 H27. Owner has taken good care of her and I am looking forward to taking her out on the LI Sound soon.

One issue I have is the Porta-Potty. I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade it to a toilet with macerator and a holding tank with proper hull fitting for pump out.

Any insight would be appreciated.

The h27 came plumbed from factory with a head, holding tank and thru-hull intake and discharge ports. What may have prompted a prior PO to abandon the holding tank is a question? Check under the V-berth comparment on the starboard side and see what was done with the thru-hull valves. The holding tank was also located there. With current discharge restrictions you may not need a macerator but pumpout plumbing. I believe the h27 came equiped with a manual gusher pump. There is nothing wrong with a porta potty as an alternative to refurbish the whole sanitation system. Consider getting the best porta potty with the highest tank capacity and plumb a pump out hose to deck.

The Thetford 465 MSD has worked out well for me.

Thank you both for getting back to me. I'll check out the plumbing tomorrow.
