The tube coming from my oil pan can be positioned lower than the pan. Do I still need to use a pump? Seems like gravity would drain the oil. I saw a video on youtube of a guy with the same tube and it ran to the top of the engine and he used a pump? I think the tube was meant to run below the pan to avioid the need for a pump. What he was doing made no sense. Am I missing something?

My previous M25 had a drain fitting on the bottom of the oil pan for oil changes. The loose end of the hose was capped and tied above the oil pan level. No pump reuired

I use a pump with the hose. You will find that, unless you extend the hose and let it drain into a container placed in the nearest bilge, the drained oil level into a container will quickly rise and stop draining. I use an impeller pump with 12vdc motor from harborfreight.com.
