They were wired two different ways from the factory depending on hull number. Some had solenoids for the glow plugs and that was an indicator. If you have a photo of what you have I can walk you through it. You could also go to the Catalina Yahoo group and view the different ones in the WiKi files. Kind of a starting point would be positive cable from battery to input side of the solenoid, then output side to large pin on the starter. The orange wire is from the alternator to the positive input on the solenoid, it was a wiring upgrade about 20 years ago to help get a faster charge to battery. If your going to own a C-28 you really need to be on their Yahoo site, it is exclusing 28's and there are 500 guys with a lot of experience with this boat. It costs nothing, you can also subscribe to Mainsheet as well the magazine for Catalina owners and there is a technical section for each model of boat.
