So for the last few weeks, after the "blizzard", I have been torn about taking the boat out of the water now, or keep putting it off. I keep putting it off. :D

As of yet I have not scheduled with my hauler or the yard. The sailing & weather has been sooo good that I still have not yanked the sails and stopped sailing.

To "be prepared" I have winterized the fresh water system, changed the oil, fuel filters removed the radar, bimini & canvas but the sails are still bent on and I'm still sailing. What an amazing fall!!!!

At this rate I may be sailing over Thanksgiving!!:):) Oh and it was 67F today, in MAINE..

With you on that

MS, I have been doing a repair the past couple weeks, but the weather here is awesome for sailing. I am planning on going sailing after Thanksgiving as long as the weather holds.

Re: With you on that

I had outside work today at 73 F. When I was in Maine We had snow flurries in September. We once got four inches of snow on the first day of the world series.

Same in Boston Harbor

We have gone out every weekend since the "blizzard". Although, the wind predictions have been way off. This past Sunday it was supposed to 10-15 or 10-20 kts depending on which site you used. We got out of the slip and it was blowing around 18 kts with gusts to 25 kts. We got out of the harbor and it went up to 25 kts with gusts to 35 kts.

I am still learning this boat so I could have used a little less wind. But hey, I was still able to sail. It got me over 600 nm for the season. My goal was 1,000 nm but we had to cancel our July cruise due to engine issues. So I was happy to reach 600 nm. We had a friend along that brought some Yuengling to celebrate.

I am taking the same steps as MaineSail.

I am starting to think it may be time. I am planning to finish the winterization this weekend. But if I get down there and it is nice, I may just go out again.:D

Had a great sail yesterday in a buddy's boat on the Pontchartrain.. form Madisonville to Mandeville .. Motored in very thick fog and no wind to the drawbridge at the half way point .. then as soon as we crossed, fog lifted and wind came in at 4-6 kt..was fine until the harbor entrance where we had a Blue Impeller moment with the water pump .. posted on the Catalina 34 forum..

Starting this Saturday we start a nine day cruise from Carabelle to Destin and back. I have been praying HARD for good weather. It looks like we will be rewarded with mid 70s during the day and 48-50ish at night. Perrrrrfect weather.

Last day of sailing for me ...

Saturday had great wind for the day. Sunday, there was none so I took the sails off the boat and meandered over to the marina where she will be for the winter.

Here is my sail trimmer ...

Beware of the sudden change in weather that heralds winter's onset.

We have had some great sailing weather but the water level is so low that we had to pull the boat out on September 24th. So we have been getting her ready for next season. (new bottom job, cleaning) A new bottom is a lot of work!!

Went for a short sail this morning and just finished pulling the sails off. Boat yard has run out of masts to unstep and mine is next....:cussing: Not bad though, late April to November 17th a near seven month season, in Maine...

Get her put away fast. I think winter is going to roll in fast with no warning.

Do they still drop the water level in the lake ? I lived in Andover for 12 years and fished Hopatcong all the time. Here on the west side of Lake Erie the wind drops the lake sometimes 6 feet or more.

Already did once..:D She's already been "winterized", except for the engine. All that needs to be done now is to pull the stick, drop the radar pole, haul her and truck her home..

Hi MS,
Once the politicians leave NH in Jan all the hot air will be gone.

Don't know how you guys up north put up with it.. I was in the Keys last weekend and couldn't have asked for more perfect conditions. 70-80's with winds around 5-10 mph gusting to maybe 15 and just a slight chop. Unfortunately, we were all there to pay our respects to a long time friend and scatter his ashes, so the time sailing was limited to just one day.

Cheers,
Brad
