Ugly wallpaper

Ugly wallpaper is what the awful burlap sack looking material on the inside of my cabin has been nicknamed. It's falling apart and past due for replacement. I'm interested in hearing what you've covered your cabin walls or headliner with. So far I'm considering EVA fake teak, some sort of carpeting as well as some finished thin wood strips. I'm very interested in hearing what the installation process was like and how well it's held up

Make it look nautical.
Carpet is a dust collector.
There are some FRP panels that look like bead board that may be interesting.
Not liking Fake Teak.
Wood strips wood be ok in my boat.
There have been some nice looking Cedar strips used in boats. They also give a pleasant smell to the boat. Known to discourage moths.

Bead board sounds easy to install. Is it flexible enough to conform to the hull? I think the fake teak would look alright but getting all of those lines perfectly cut and aligned sounds like a pain. I'm really curious how labor intensive the wood strips would be

As a fellow Oday owner perhaps this will help . Pulling off that nasty burlap was almost fun. that is how glad I was to see it go .
I used a stiff bristled brush and kep the shop vac up ,out in the cockpit . This made clean up a breeze.
I also considered using strips of ash ,alder . I considered porch paint as it was recommended quite often. In the end I installed a very light blue short nap outdoor carpet . The color was chosen to complement the dark blue sunbrella covers for the cushions . A water based adhesive made installation almost enjoyable . As our boat sits on a mooring all summer on Lake Michigan the carpet has made the most sense . As the lake temperature is at least 20 degrees cooler than the air ,condensation was something I wanted to avoid .
In this aspect we have been very successful . The carpet also helps mitigate noises to some degree .
Installation of the carpet was fairly straight forward . The short nap allowed me to compansate for the complex curves .
Even 15 or more years later,I still believe it was the right choice ,for us . It cleans easily and it hides the uneven fiberglass layers underneath .

I can understand. there is good news about that .
On Dec 20th, posted this

So your days should be getting longer from here forward.
Not so sure about the temps. The Sun's activity has been a bit slow for the past year or so. We are past the Solar Minimum... Just not getting active as yet. Keep your thermals close by.

Roughly how long did this project take?

Roughly two weekends . I spent perhaps most of a day making templates and figuring out how to work around the shelving bracketry

Did you remove the shelving when you installed the carpeting? On my boat the shelving is secured to a foam filled stringer

Good morning . Yes I removed the shelving. If my memory serves me correctly ,it was held on by very long 1/4" -20 stainless bolts that sort of sandwiched the shelf . Not very well I might add . look down in the shelf pocket itself . The bolts are vertically mounted .I'll try to get some pictures this week for you

No worries on the shelf pics. Mine is secured in the same manner except it has long, very bent 10-24 screws. I might remove these shelves altogether. It's amazing that they're still attached to the hull after 45 years

The shelves while only holding select items ,also make for a very nice backrest . Otherwise your spine curves outward and get's uncomfortable rather quickly we found

What kind of adhesive did you use for your carpeting? I was thinking either 3M 77/90 or standard carpet glue. 3M has gets tacky pretty quickly but that's a lot of fumes in a small space

Did the curve of the hull present any challenges when installing?

I would also love to see a pic of your interior when you get a chance
