Twin fuel filter system

After having a "nearly" plugged primary filter sometime back, I decided to install a twin filter system so I can switch from one filter to the other without too much problem.

This project cost about $300 in case you are interested in trying something similar. These filters are mounted under our aft berth where the original Racor 110 was located.

So, Steve:

Very nice job!...I suppose you just fill and evacuate the second set to have it ready? Do you rotate them once in a while switching one from back up to primary? Will you double your filter change frequency? Do you use fluoridated tooth paste?

Ron: Yes i will.

Rick: That is the plan. Both filters will be ready to go. The plan is to run off of F1 for 'x' hours and then switch to F2 and change out F1. My guess is that I will never have a filter problem again.

I just don't want to be going in/out of the gate or some other place where I would not be able to drop an anchor and have a filter problem.

Actually ol'salts should be brushing with salt. So the question may be iodine or no iodine.

Congratulations! Our daughter is getting married in Nov 2010 so next year is going to be busy, too.

after several clogged filters in our 29.5 at really bad times I installed a similar twin Racor 200 series system on our 356. Both filters are primed and ready to go, so one valve switches both the filter and the pickup(we have a spare pickup in the tank for the genset).
