The PACIFIC Tropical Activity is where the action is at the moment.
Seven active tropical waves!
The most recent 3 are tracking toward Hawaii.
They are Westward heading, series of Low Pressure Fronts spinning off Central America.
This movement looks like has matching a series of High Pressure Fronts heading East toward the Pacific Northwest, across the USA and passing over Central Atlantic.

Noteworthy...
High Pressure Fronts are Tropical disturbance SHIELDS which push toward Lows and disturb their formations into Hurricanes.
This series of Highs are causing the thunder storms but also bring the High Temperatures after the rain.
Crude Naval Weather of years past...
Rising Barometer is good clearing weather. [High Pressure Fronts]
These High are pushing the African Lows way South, like TS Don.
Oops! @capta is in Trinidad for the nice cooling rains, at least not much wind.
So...
Maybe we Atlantic side sailors have High Pressures Storm Shields for the next 2 weeks.
