If it were me ... I would think that it might be worthwhile to upgrade the entire system. I would do a little research to find something new and snazzy, even if it means replacing the track. Expensive, I know.

In the meantime, I would simply tap a new hole to accept a larger screw. That way, if it fails, I'd be prepared to make the upgrade that I always wanted in the first place. But that's just me.

That component looks kind of marginal for a Hunter 30 anyway.

I think you will find a car to fit that rail on the Rig-Rite site. But from what we have seen written here recently it might be hard to get their attention.

Are you sure this item was made my Merriman and not Rutergson? If it is the latter, they are still in business and you may want to contact them or download their catalogue. As other posters have indicated, it may be time to bite the bullet and replace this item with an upgrade. In the interim, you may want to try setting another screw in the car with something like MarineTex or JB Weld. I doubt it would hold for very long, however. Good luck with this.

As a durable repair, I would probably remove the car, drill out and countersink both holes to accept a suitable SS screw inserted from below, and use a nylock nut or double-nut on top. Obviously you'd need to remount the 2 blocks before putting the car back on the track.

It would be a good excuse to inspect and clean the wheels & axles of the car anyway.

drill it out and run short screw and bolt. This looks like the one on my '79 Hunter 30 which I have on my list of things that have to go.
