I'm having trouble with my main sheet on my '85 C30 std. rig. Does anyone know a way to improve the ease of bringing in and letting out the the sheet? Has anyone information on the Gauhauer traveler upgrade? I'd also like to know a successful deck rigging pattern for for the gear need for a spinnaker. Oh, on what size headsail do you use the inside tracking?? Thanks!

Gauhauer traveler upgrad

I upgraded my 1988 Cat30 two or three years ago. It makes all the difference in the world. Under windy conditions, the traveler still handles quite easily. - It doesn't get stuck and crew can make minor adjustments to the rig.

I use a 110 on the inside track

But the sheet lead to the winch needs to go through the outer track pulley as well for a proper lead to the winch (or it will bind up).

Mainsheet lead

I didn't like the cabintop mainsheet routing of my '76 C-30, so I just ran it off a cam cleat fiddle block with a single block with becket. That way the sheet comes straight back to the helm, just like my smaller boats. I'm more comfortable with something familiar. It's still 6:1 as well.

I just did the same thing.

It made such a big difference. I think it is all the right angles in the turning blocks. Am even thinking of improving the purchase to 8x. Good thing is that if you need to, you can still lead the mainsheet to the winch if you need to. H.
