Anyone Else Sail a Cal 20?

It has a well with a "cap" that you pull up to cover the hole along the hull as well as a cover for the top to keep you from stepping in the well. I sailed many many days on the Cal 20 but never with a motor so I cannot attest to its functionality. In fact it took a very long time to figure out what that hole was for. The folks who built the boat must have made a bunch of money on the replacement caps kinda like Magma and those damn wing nut thingies.

I guess I took the opposite approach and took my outboard off the side transom mount and mounted it outboard like this site shows.

I didn't make mine exactly the same. But it does work and it allows me to get the motor completely out of the water when I want to. It is mounted outboard of the transom hung rudder. I connect to the motor controls using this system.

I am not as adept as the girl in the videos, but it does let me control my boat much easier than standing looking backward leaning down to get the control arm and gear shift and control the boat while going butt forward toward the dock. Can anyone say crash!!! Since I have had the power tiller, I feel that the boat handles like a grown up big boat.
