Transducer wire

I am not sure how handy you are specially when it comes to soldering. If so then on the last transducer that I installed it had a plug on the cable that came out of the transducer with 24". Then it was plugged in to an other plug that carried the signal to the display unit. I believe you can purchase just the male and female plugs and the cable and run a new cable and cut the cable near the existing transducer and solder the plug. I believe you have to use the correct cable to get the proper result. Before you run the cable - you can also move the display close to the transducer while in the water and see if the transducer works.

Can I just cut the cable and replace the entire length, or should I try to solder it all back together at the two ends? From what I've found on this boat, the cable may have other problems I just haven't found yet. I just got it back in the water a few months ago and don't want to pull it out again so soon

Shadow, I have cut my transducer cable and soldered it back together. Make sure you get the sheath back together though. I replaced my transducer and I did not want to rerun the cable. It has worked without issues since I did this.

To check the transducer just find an old AM radio and put it next to the tranducer white it has power. You should hear it "pinging" on the radio if the tranducer is working OK.
