I was specific with my response regarding when there is a swing centerboard/keel when suggesting repositioning the bunk boards if a keel tray is present. Experience is where I am coming from.

As for your 170, I was involved with that from inception till the last one left the factory and I am well aware your trailer has no keel tray. I also am aware of your concern but many daysailor trailers have no keel trays due to the weight of the centerboard on it. If you are concerned I would suggest a cross bar affixed to the trailer with a roller which the centerboard would rest on

I used to use a long 3" heavy duty nylon ratchet strap on my H23. From low on the winch post, around the boat, and back to the winch post. Snug tight with the ratchet, then grab the taught strap and pull sideways! The boat would slide right forward and solidly hit the bow stop.

By now you have loaded and unloaded your boat many times; however, the novices need to be aware as you are should the boat be loaded sideways could cause problems. Let me explain.

With minimal tolerances or clearance underneath, should the centerboard be caught on top of any keel guide pictured in your photos, the center board can cause the boat to load sideways and probably pinned between the hull and keel guide/centerboard housing possibly causing damage. Paying attention is important like you do already.

I use to advise and I wish I could pull up a photo that guide keels and centerboard style sailboat onto the trailer. (Anyone please post keel guide photos). With fixed wing keel guides it Is a little different

I chose the above water technique with padded guides. Thw 170 has a flat bottom so it will never load strait. It can be winched to the bow stop and still float leeward if the trailer is backed in too far.

I added some guides with great results. Just get the bow between the guides and the boats is hugged in safe.

With a keel above water trailer giudes would indicate trailer depth and placement.

From other responses from you, I figured you were smart to do that which you did and thank you for confirming. My intent were to alert novices that do not realize that, not you. I did specify that was to novices. Enough said
