Ancasta replied to my inquiry, saying that they have a 6 week lead time on the part :(. The irony of an 8,000 lb vessel being waylaid by a 2-ounce part has not escaped me.
Sad indeed! You would think that Beneteau would have the fitting readily available; however, doesn’t surprise me. Even when Beneteau was operating in SC, they wouldn’t sell them. Just out of curiosity, did Ancasta provide an $ estimate?
May have to resort to modifying the shaft log to accept a different fitting or having a machine shop fabricate a replacement nipple & a couple of spares. You can research to obtain info on owner mods to change the fitting configuration. I would be interested in eliminating the broken fitting & plugging the thru hull fitting, but I don’t want to risk any repercussion! Let me know if you need the dimensions of the OEM fitting & I will get that info for you. Either way, think about plans for future inspection & replacement In your designs.

This conversation reminded me contact the person who bought our boat to see if they changed fittings from Ace hardware. (mentioned in my previous post)
Here is their response and a repair idea.
"Ah ah yes the fitting snapped off last month. It was fixed when we hauled out last week.
We had a small tube glassed in so it won't be an issue anymore. Thanks for thinking of us."
