How about a nuclear device delivered by a submarine to blow that formation to pieces
Believe it or not that calculation has been done. NOPE!

It is about like the Dewar Flasks.:(

We have to deal the solar energy collected along the Storms path for say 18 days, about 200 miles in diameter, the spin of the earth, Jet stream, and other weather energy.

Talk about a renewable energy source!!:yikes:
________
why do the combined gas law calculation for room temperature?
This is why I was kinda joking [elbow nudge] back with the thermodynamic term Adiabatic [simple means do Work on Hurricane with out heat wasting]
So...
I can't resist...:pimp:
You would need an non adiabatic expansion of liquid Nitrogen
Using what you said, cool the dang thing.
Unfortunately the energy needed to Liquify the Nitrogen is HUGE too.

Thus..
To control a Hurricane, I sought out the Star Trukian answer.;)
________
We can learn build to resist the wind, water surge, not so easy.

Jim...

Trivia: After Katrina I was asked to design a coastal Hurricane PROOF home. I took on the challenge. After considering the know 40'+ wall of water that hit us in Waveland MS. After several hours of fun calculations. I did it!! Unfortunately it looked like a USN Attack Nuclear Submarine and about the same cost. Just open the hatch when it is all over.

This hurricane house is in Garden City, SC. Close to and visible from the Gulf Stream Restaurant. (Very good seafood and great view at the Gulf Stream.)

How about this: We build a bunch of big windmills in the typical hurricane zone & use them to generate energy from the hurricane winds to power a bunch of really big fans that blow against the direction of flow of the hurricane????

(Just Joking)
I'm actually kind of bored while I sit here & wait for the darn storm to blow over.

I'm hoping that Tuesday is going to be a decent sailing day.

They just announced on the local news here in Tampa, a reminder to folks not to try shooting guns at the storm. It won't help. (In not kidding).

Dave in Tampa (hoping I still have a boat in two days)

Humor: OTOH, shooting at the storm will do two (somewhat positive) things:
1. Reduce the total amount of ammo in possession of those that think shooting at storms will be a good thing. Therefore reducing the ammo available to "Florida Man."
2. Increase profits to ammo manufactures......Thereby employing people and feeding their families or whatever.

Not Humor: Dave: I sincerely hope you do have a boat after the storm. Too many folks in the Caribbean no longer have their home/boat - I wish you the best with the survival of your vessel.

Of course he can. But then some antifa judge from Hawaii would block the order, so what's the point?

What about a several mile diameter circle of some sort of insulating surface?
Deploy it near the low - attempt to prevent the air from picking up as much moisture and warmth from the ocean.
Filling half the area of the eye with a floating island has got to do something!

How 'bout a giant orbiting umbrella thing? Wouldn't need to be thick - a micron or so would work. Deploy between the sun and the forming 'cane, and reduce the amount of energy to feed it. Take away the power, no hurricane.

Hey - that's a solution to AGW too... just add some shade.

(With respect to Larry N for actually coming up with the idea... But yknow, it really is possible right now to do something like this)

Make it out of Solar cell film, and beam the energy via microwave back to earth. Kill the hurricanes while generating clean power. Sounds like a win win to me.
