Bob and Doug, I just purchased an A/H 4K, and wondering where the best place to mount the control and the fluxgate? Any ideas would be appreciated. David

Hi David.....Actually I have a c-270 (1997)andI mounted the fluxgate in the aft cabinon the centerline of a bulkhead.I think there is a paragraph statingthat too far forward is too much movementfor the fluxgate.Mine works great. There is a test in theAH 4000 software that will testmagnetic deviation at the proposedlocation.Mine is adjacent the rudder post, but it doesnt seem to be a problem.Good luck!Doug

Fluxgate mounting

David: I have a Catalina 310 with the RM 4000 and successfully mounted the fluxgate compass on the bulkhead inside of the port bench seat in the cabin. Seems to work fine (had some calibration issues but expected that) but I found that I need to be careful not to store metal (tools, etc) objects in this area. Customer service at Raymarine was very helpful.
